Last fall, the manufacturing of Hummel figurines by the Goebel factory was discontinued after 73 years of production. Collectors all over the world were disappointed that there would be no new porcelains to add to their collections. Beginning in February of this year, a new owner has taken over all the rights and manufacturing factilites from Goebel Porcelain Factory, for the purpose of producing M.I. Hummel figurines. Goebel Porzellanmanufacktur has designed and manufactured porcelain figurines, crockery and ornaments since 1871. The company promises to return to the high standards of M.I. Hummel figurines in their heyday. The company will utilize the skills and knowledge of former Hummel artists and employees as much as possible. Collectors look forward to the introduction of new figurines in the coming months. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sister M.I. Hummel, all figurines produced in 2009 will bear a commemorative 100-years back stamp.
