The Country’s Longest Yard Sale
The longest yard sale that the Diva has ever seen takes place annually on the first Thursday in August through that weekend.
630 Miles Worth of Antiques and Collectibles
For over 630 miles from Defiance, Ohio, to Gadsden, Alabama, vendors line the road. Bargain hunters can find almost anything at the many thousands of tables over that weekend. For a more manageable trip, the 257 miles along Route 127 from Lexington, Kentucky to Chattanooga, Tennessee will provide the avid collector with a wealth of choices from thousands of vendors. To spend four days along the road shopping for treasures makes for a wonderful four-day weekend. Staying at country inns or hotels and eating the local food along the way adds to the enjoyment.
Bargains Galore – Antique Chinese Jade, Betty Boop Collectibles and Other Vintage Goodies.
The Diva was able to buy an antique Chinese jade turtle, vintage cups and saucers, old movie posters, Betty Boop collectibles, silver, jewelrym crystal, books and vintage fabrics, to name a few of the many bargains I was able to find. Plan a vacation around this yard sale, and happy shopping.
Speaking of Betty Boop …
If you like Betty Boop and other entertainment memorabilia, you’ll love shopping online. I found a fantastic Internet store called EntertainmentEarth, which has a great selection of Betty Boop merchandise, from Betty Boop figures to other affordable gifts that are under $10. For instance, the Betty Boop “computer sitter” is a cute gift that any fan of Betty Boop will love … and it will hardly put a dent in your pocketbook, considering today’s cool economic climate.
EntertainmentEarth.com has an outstanding selection of collectibles, from tricorders that will delight your favorite Star Trek Fan, Mr. Potato Head merchandise, “I Love Lucy” memorabilia and contemporary gifts such as Obama bobble heads.
